Privacy policy

This policy explains what the ACHALAM app collects, why, where it is kept, who can see it, and how you can have it changed or removed. ACHALAM is the app of the Achalgachchh Kutchi Jain samaj, developed and published by Xanchor Capital Technologies (1, Lilla Bhavan, Devpur (Gadhsisha), Kutch, Gujarat 370445, India). We do not sell your data. The app shows ads only from samaj businesses, placed through the samaj office; there are no outside ad networks and no tracking for advertising.
1. What we collect and why
| Google account | Your Google account email and the ID Google gives the app, so you can sign in without a password and come back on a new phone. We never get your Google password. |
| Mobile number | Your own number, so the samaj office can reach you. It is read from a SIM card you choose in your phone (with your permission), or typed by you when the SIM does not show it. We record whether it came from the SIM or was typed. Several family members may share one number. |
| Aadhaar QR (optional) | If you scan your Aadhaar QR, it is read on your phone only. We keep your name, gender, year of birth and address. We never keep or send your Aadhaar number, photo or full date of birth. You can type your details instead of scanning. |
| Your details | Address, native village, sangh, occupation and work field, and (only if you tap the location button) the location of your home. Used for the samaj census and to contact members. |
| Family members | Children and elders without their own phone that you add. A child's details are added only by a parent. |
| What you post | Samaj chat messages, Samaj corner posts, ads, reports, and photos or short videos you add to them. |
| Notifications | A notification address for your phone from Google Firebase, so announcements reach you, and your choice of which notifications you want. |
| Learn Gujarati | Lesson progress, saved so it is not lost on a new phone. |
2. Permissions the app asks for
- Phone (SIM): to list the SIM cards in your phone and read their numbers during sign-up. Android calls this "phone calls"; ACHALAM never makes calls and never reads your call list, SMS or contacts.
- Location (optional): only when you tap the button to fill your home location.
- Notifications: to show announcements and reminders.
- The Aadhaar scanner is Google's own scanner; the app does not need camera permission for it.
3. Where it is kept
Your account and details are kept on our server at Supabase. Photos and videos are kept on Cloudflare R2 and shown from media.achalam.app. Notifications are sent through Google Firebase. Sign-in uses Google. These companies process the data only to run the app for us.
4. Who can see it
- All members: your name with your chat messages, approved Samaj corner posts and ads, and photo albums.
- Samaj office (owner and main admins): the member list with names, numbers, addresses, villages, occupation and family, to keep the samaj census and contact members. Every export or print of the list is recorded.
- Sub-admins: posts waiting for approval and reported messages.
- Nobody else. We share data with the police or courts only when Indian law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Records of admin actions are kept for the samaj office's history. Short-lived sign-up codes are deleted within a day.
6. Your choices and rights
- Change your details any time in Profile.
- Delete my account (Profile) removes your account, your details, your family list, your posts, chat messages and ads. You can also ask us to delete it.
- Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask to see, correct or erase your data, and complain to us first. Write to the contact below; we answer within 30 days.
7. Children
Members sign up themselves. Details of children under 18 are added only by a parent in the family section, and children do not get their own account.
8. Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). Server rules let each member read only what they are allowed to, and admin tools are limited to admins.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date, and important changes are announced in the app.
